While creating a new transaction, there is no field for setting the payment method. Why?

Payment methods are defined for account types. By default, there are no payment methods for cash accounts, only for bank accounts. You can change an account's type under Edit Account, or define a new payment method (Settings → Manage → Payment methods → New payment method).

When I create a new transaction, why is the focus on the Payee field?

The Autofill feature allows to quickly create new transactions based on the last transaction for the same payee. When it is activated, focus is set on the Payee field, with the assumption, that in most cases, you would start with the Payee, in order to have the rest of the information filled in. This behavior can be switched off in the Settings: Autofill -> Set Focus on Payee .

How to reopen an accidentally closed account?

How to edit name (or opening balance, color, ...) of an existing account?

There are two options:

  1. In the menu, there is an entry labelled with name of the account, with a sub-menu where you will find the command "Edit".
  2. You can access the same sub-menu by long pressing on the account in the account list.

Why are some expenses shown in green, some income shown as red?

As explained here, a transaction with a positive amount (credit), that is mapped to an expense category, changes the sum of your expenses, a transaction with a negative amount (debit), that is mapped to an income category, changes the sum of your income. In order to make this clear, amounts are shown by default in the color of the type of their category. This can be changed in the Settings (User Interface -> Transaction list -> Advanced -> Colors for amounts)

grafik

With the option "Debit / Credit", the color will always be based on the amount, even for transfers, otherwise transfer amounts are shown in purple.

How to access an inactive account?

On the Accounts Screen (V2), open the Data menu (icon {}), and select Flags. You can either change the visibility of all Inactive accounts by clicking on the Show icon or from the overflow menu (three vertical dots), select the "Select" command. Unchecking an inactive account on this list will make it visible again. Alternatively, you can also select Grouping -> Flag from the Options menu. When the account is grouped by flag, all flags and all accounts are shown.

The bottom navigation bar and floating action button in the new V2 interface take up too much space on my phone. How can I configure a different user experience?

Both can be adjusted in the Settings, section "User interface".

Switch to a Navigation Rail: Navigate to "Menu" -> "Main navigation" and select "Left". This will hide the navigation, and you access it via a "hamburger" menu icon, maximizing your workspace.

Use a Compact FAB: Navigate to "Transaction list", "Advanced" -> "Floating Action Button Style" and select "Compact". This reduces the size of the button, keeps the primary action (like creating a new transaction) easily accessible, and opens the full menu on long press (tap and hold).
